Common Errors in Running

Pain – Pain comes from only one reason – you are doing something wrong. It is a warning that something is happening or about to happen, while you are interacting with support and through it with gravity.

Errors:

  • Landing with the heel first.
  • Heel striking with a straight leg
  • Landing ahead of the body – over striding
  • Using the quad muscles instead of the hamstrings – push off
  • Landing on the toes with the body behind
  • Landing with a stiff leg or ankle
  • Active landing – forcing into the ground
  • Overall muscle tension
  • Active push toe off, straightening the leg to propel the body forward
  • Holding the rear leg behind after leaving support with the other
  • Leaning the trunk sideways or forward
  • Keeping shoulders up and stiff
  • Arms pumping
  • Incorrect thinking – ones own commands
  • Incorrect image – ones visualisation
  • Incorrect feelings – muscles
